Huffington Post blogger and accidental activist, Richard Zombeck founded ShametheBanks.org after watching as nearly all homeowners who told their story publicly managed to cause enough of a stir to shame the banks into helping these particular people, so in the spirit of publicly scorning the banks he started this site. You can read more about the launch at HuffPost.
Zombeck is in his own fight with his servicer and has been battling them for two years now ... there's no end in sight.
There are several other like minded bloggers who have joined the fight and contribute regularly to the site. In addition to the bloggers much of the news available throughout the Internet is aggregated here as well Why it all Started
This site has been created for me, for you, and for millions of other Americans fighting the banking system to save the roof over their heads.
This site is not just about shaming the banks however; it's about shaming each and every person that any of us have reached out to for assistance only to be denied, pushed aside and lied too.
It has become abundantly clear that Congress, Wall Street and the Banks are not concerned about the American Family. Daily we turn on the TV and watch the endless Dog and Pony shows that are created to distract Americans from the real issues facing us and our families.
We are done being lied to and done being treated as second hand citizens. It is time that the truth is told and we, who have been and still are being dragged through the dirty cogs of the Banking Industry, are going to tell it. It is time that each and every member of Congress is held accountable for their actions or inactions that has led this great Nation to what it has become today.
Who are we and why are we doing this?
We are just everyday people who have either been in the process, are currently in the process or looking into the process of Loan Modifications.
Some here are in foreclosure and waiting for the other shoe to fall; some have received a modification that in the end will probably do more harm than good; and others are still waiting to know their fate.
We work our jobs, pay our bills and struggle to find a way to bring it all together for the good of our families. We've reached out to Congress, to Government Agencies who are supposed to help us (HUD and the OCC come to mind), to the Banks and many, many other resources only to be lied too, pushed aside and trampled on and, to top it off, we have been viciously attacked by others who are not fully aware of the truth.
Shamethebanks.org has not been created to make money off of the suffering of others. It has been created to give a voice to each visitor to share their stories and give a true account of what the Banks, Congress and Wall Street are actually doing to American families today. To allow regular people to speak to their truth.
Bottom-line is this, we will make every effort to get your story told to the masses. We will continue to improve our site and accessibility. We will not share any personal information with third parties EVER.
We have been contacted by the media, members of Congress, and attorneys who frequently visit the site looking for stories like yours.
We will use all of our personal resources to provide you with the most accurate, up to date information regarding Banking issues, Congressional issues and other topics that continue to be sweep under the proverbial rug.
Tell your story!
